Why Free To A Good Home Is Not A Good Idea
Most people who are looking for a home for some puppies or kittens may have the best of intentions. I wouldn’t recommend giving them away unless it’s someone you know or a referral from someone you know. The problem is people simply don’t know the harsh realities of what can happen. There are people out there who spend all of their days adopting free animals. These animals are then tortured in labs. They sometimes bring children with them to make it appear more real, like they are a family. Don’t ever fall for this. Not when there are labs paying them cash for these animals. There is a company here in the US that kills 500 animals per day and this is how they get most of their animals. Please don’t contribute to it. People will also adopt free animals to use them as bait for fighting dogs. This is done to dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds. Think about it…Anyone who is evil enough to fight their own dog against another dog, will not think twice about throwing another animal in there. These poor animals are literally ripped to shreds. They don’t stand a chance. If you do not believe this happens or can happen to you when trying to adopt out a puppy or kitten, or any animal, you are wrong. Wake up.
If you must find a home for an animal, charge a fee. Someone who genuinely wants that animal will gladly pay for it. You are not trying to make money on this animal. You can buy them a gift certificate for pet food with the money later on, or even put it towards the animal’s first vet visit. It’s a way for the adopter to show that things are on the up and up. People who sell animals to labs or need bait animals don’t want to pay anything. Strong red flag if you come across someone like this. Unless you can do a home check and follow up, do not adopt out that animal. With all of the sick people in the world, these are issues for which you need to be aware.

Dog Care - Obedience Training
Dogs that simply just don't listen can be a handful. We all have encountered them at some point, whether it is our own dog or someone else's dog. The owners yelling at their dog, doing every thing they can just to get the dog to listen. When all we (the dog owners) and the dog needed is obedience training. Obedience training is a way of communication between the owner and the dog. Obedience training doesn't cure all of the dog's bad behaviors but it is a start. They teach the basics sit, stay, come and lay down. Depending on the course you choose. The basics are for safety issues also, you don't want your dog running out every time someone opens the door or jumping all over your guests as they enter your home. Obedience training is a terrific way to start training. After he conquers the basic commands then you can train him to do other things such as tricks, agility whatever you may choose. It is suggested that all dogs should go through obedience training, even if you have the time to put in with your dog to train him yourself. By both using the trainer and the owner it is a fact that it is more effective.
There are a lot of obedience training classes in your area. Some pet shops even offer them. If you would like to have your obedience trained in your home, their are plenty of trainers who will come to your home. It is important to research all of the trainers, whether they are in home or training classes. Some trainers can be very expensive find out if they have referrals, ask your veterinarian or if your friends have used some one. You know the saying you get what you pay for so do your research. Make sure they are professional enough to know how to deal with your dog's behavior and how to train them properly. The training should be fun for the dog, remember it is a learning process. Praising the dog when he listens to a command is up to the trainer he/she may opt to give him a treat or just lots of love.
Consistency and patience is of vital importance. You must follow through with what the dog has learned when the trainer is not there. If you don't follow through your dog may never learn to listen to you.
Obedience training will ensure a happy and healthy relationship between the dog owner and the dog. This is just another example of how important dog care is.
Remember a good dog is a happy and healthy dog.

Be One with the Puppy
While a full advocate of dog obedience training even at the young age of puppy, it needs to be said that like children, dogs are only a puppy for a very short period of time. Yes, it's a time for training and socialization and housebreaking and everything else that goes along with owning a puppy. Still, all too often we forget the real reason why we bought a puppy in the first place. Fun!
Romping with a little puppy is one of the few inexpensive joys of living. At this time, puppies think that you are probably the absolute most wonderful person. They learn to anticipate when you come home from work and when you leave in the morning. I had a Rottweiler for almost 13 years that even in those later years when he slept most of the time, my dog always managed to be at the door just as I was walking in. Kids grow up and go off on their own, but a puppy grows up to be your very own four-legged fan club.
I remember laying on the floor in the living room reading the newspaper after a hard days work. My Rottweiler puppy Willie, would unceremoniously plant himself right in the middle of the newspaper making certain to lick my eyeglasses. It was almost as if he was saying there would be no more work today, it's time to build some sweet memories.
We would end up playing around and wrestling on the floor. I know you should never play with the dog with your own hands but Willie and I seemed to have this bond that was kept all throughout his life. When he tired, my little pup Willie would go over to the fireplace and curl up in the wood carrier. Sometimes he would decide to go to sleep directly on my slippers with his nose firmly lodged inside the right one.
I did crate training with Willie to housebreak him. Of course there were accidents but he was a great dog nonetheless. It took awhile but he got the hang of it. Although we moved several times during his life, Willie always seemed to know that going to the bathroom in a house was just wrong.
Willie and I had a great time together a short 13 years. Sometimes even today I long to once again enjoy that distinctive puppy breath and see my 4 legged friend once again waiting by the door. He was a great dog. I will never forget the time we spent together.
If you're thinking of getting a puppy, remember to enjoy the good times and not obsess over training and other necessities. He's only a puppy for a short while and they leave way to early.
